“I am not an athlete. Is CrossFit™ for me and can I still train at Body Armor?”
Yes, CrossFit™ is as much for the non-athlete as it is for the athlete. Workouts during your first month at Body Armor will gradually prepare you for the intensity of a CrossFit™ workout. In addition to developing your physical capabilities such as strength and flexibility, you will develop the tools that set the athlete apart from the rest: determination, commitment and will. You will develop the athlete’s mindset.
“What would prevent me from working out with you?”
If you have been restricted from exercise for medical reasons, you will need to wait until you have been cleared by your physician to exercise. If you have a physical injury that requires special attention, it is recommended that you address your condition before beginning our programs.
“I play a specific sport. Will CrossFit™ workouts enhance sport-specific skills?”
The CrossFit™ Method greatly improves the performance level of recreational athletes. Within 3 months, you will see measurable results in strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and speed. At Body Armor, we design individual workouts for our high school and college level athletes. These workouts are a combination of CrossFit™ and sport-specific strength training.
“How many CrossFit™ workouts should I do in a week?”
Beginners should attend twice per week. To receive maximum benefits, it is recommended that you increase to 3 times per week after your first 2 – 3 months.
“How old do I have to be to train at Body Armor?”
You should be at least 12 years old and be comfortable working out with all age groups.
“Do I need to bring anything with me to my workouts?”
EXPECT TO SWEAT, so please bring a bath or beach (size) towel for floor and bench exercises. A sports drink is optional. Water is provided. Most importantly, bring Enthusiasm, and a Positive, Can-Do Attitude!
“What can I expect in my first session?”
You will begin your first session with a thorough warm-up followed by an introduction to main lifting techniques, gymnastics movements or other auxiliary movements. You will end by participating in workout of the day (WOD) that is scheduled for your class.
“Do you have beginner, intermediate, and advanced workouts?”
Yes, we like to keep those who are newer to CrossFit together which is why we have CrossFit 1 and CrossFit 2 classes. We recommend that you participate in these classes for a very minimum of a month and a half before moving onto the All Levels classes. CrossFit 1 and CrossFit 2 classes are also available to more advanced CrossFitters who would prefer more of a body weight WOD or need to brush up on their basics.
“How long are the workouts?”
CrossFit™ workouts are one-hour long. However, you are encouraged to stay a few minutes after your workout to stretch or to cheer-on the next group on!
“What does a CrossFit™ workout consist of from beginning to end?”
A typical CrossFit™ workout consists of a 10-minute warm-up, a 15-minute skill or strength set, followed by the WOD (Workout of the Day). Workouts may end with abdominal work, stretching, and a cool-down.
“What do I need to wear?”
The proper athletic clothing is required for each session. Please wear a t-shirt or athletic shirt, pants or shorts with a liner or compression shorts, athletic shoes and socks. Please wear compression shorts under loose-fitting shorts. Weight gloves are optional and may be preferred by some individuals for certain exercises.
“Do you have changing rooms and showers?”
Yes we do! Our facility is equipped with both changing rooms and showers. However, please remember to pack your own showering items and towels since we do not provide those items.
